Proof of concept
Strangers have now come to the store and given me money for yarn, thus providing hope that this crazy idea of mine might actually work out!
I've got magazines and books in the shop now, including the rock-themed current issue of ReadyMade and the silky-soft Fall 2004 Spin-Off.
On Friday, October 8th, I'll have the first TGIF Knitting Night at the store -- I know several swell people who'll be here working on projects -- so you should come hang out with the cool kids after work.

Hey, Congratulations! I want to invite you to come by RedLipstick {64 6th ave, Dean & Bergen} in Prospect Heights this Sunday, the 10th, 2-4pm. Amy Singer of Knitty.com is going to be signing her new book "Knit Wit". Hopefully there will be lots of Brooklyn Knitters there, and you can tell everyone about your yarn shop! Bring some cards to hand out! I'd love to check out your new shop as soon as I have time.
