The importance of not being earnest

A wonderful sentence from a 419 scam e-mail I received this morning:

Because of my father's sincerity he was poisoned by his colleagues.

But at least he was visited by the Great Pumpkin before he died.

I want to write a novel that begins with that sentence.

Of course, I also want to write a historical novel that begins "Yo yo yo Ben Franklin is IN THE HIZZOUSE!"

In a sign of creeping senility I was unable to remember the other day what quality was desirable in pumpkin patches. Integrity? Authenticity?

But I knew it wasn't integrity, because there isn't an adjectival form of integrity. Is there? The "most integral pumpkin patch" doesn't mean the same thing at all.
