So, Bush is ignoring subpoenas from Congress and the conflict may end up in federal court? Awesome. I wonder how that will work out.
Posted by Francis at 10:46 AMAh, shit. This 5-4 Supreme Court is dreadful. Maybe the federal court where this ends up will be more reasonable? Probably not.
Posted by: Orange at June 28, 2007 11:52 AMYeah, and if they are more reasonable and decide in favor of Congress, what are the odds the administration won't appeal and eventually get heard in the Supreme Court?
Posted by: Francis at June 28, 2007 12:07 PMAnd here's the best part--even if the Supreme Court do unexpectedly side with the Legislature and demand that the President and Vice-President turn over information, they still don't have to. They can claim, oh, any number of things, and can even be destroying all the documents they are looking for, all the while it's being argued, and there isn't much of anything that anybody can do about it. It's not like the Supreme Court are going to send a bailiff to collect the records.
And then, in a year and a half, the new president will likely pardon the old one for any and all crimes that may have been committed, because that's how Gerald Ford healed our great nation. Feel healed yet?
Thanks,
