Hack minds think alike

Peter found this unfortunate (or serendipitous, depending on your point of view) juxtaposition in the comics yesterday:

Now if only someone had also beaned Mary Worth in the head with a brick, this would have been the best comics page ever.

My "best comics page ever" award would have to go to the Dayton Daily News in 1981 when they swapped the captions for Dennis The Menace and The Far Side.

In The Far Side, two neanderthals are in a cave - a fortune teller with a crystal ball and her customer. The fortune teller says (mismatched caption): If I get as big as Dad, won't my skin be too tight?

Ok, not so funny. But in the Dennis The Menace, Dennis and his parents are sitting down eating dinner. Dennis looks up at his mother and says (mismatched caption): I see your little, petrified skull...labeled and resting on a shelf somewhere.

If that's not comedy gold...

Note, this swappage is recounted in the book "Prehistory of the Far Side"

Would you settle for Spider-Man getting a brick to the head?
