Too much information

So this afternoon at work I went to the drug store on the corner to buy myself a candy bar. (I needed the candy bar because I was falling asleep at my desk after last night's insomnia, and I had to go down to the drug store to get it because our office candy machine is still broken.) I was bemused when I got back upstairs and realized the receipt was longer than the candy bar wrapper. This seemed like overkill to me.

Somewhere in the world (probably India) there's a benighted proofreader who has to proofread Duane Reade cash register receipt copy before you ever drive that puppy home.

Hey, wait, how do we know you didn't just Photoshop that? For all I know, the receipt may have actually been tiny. Or the candy bar gigantic.

You gonna post worst-caption winners sometime?

Victoria: And apparently they brought James Frey in to work on the capitalization.

Rick: Well, I did Photoshop it, in that I traced the candy bar wrapper and the receipt to make them into new layers so I could color the background to match the color of the blog, and slid the wrapper over so it would line up with the edge of the receipt. So much for objectivity.

And yeah, I totally forgot about posting worst caption winners! Such a bad temporary custodian, I am. I will see to it this evening.

I believe you just didn't follow directions. According to the wrapper, you are supposed to take five bars, stuff them up your sleeve, and sneak out of the store. No receipt required. Don't smile at the camera on your way out.

Anyway, let us know whether you win $1000 from Duane Reade, who's not an actual person.

Wait a minute ... you spend eighty-one cents on a candy bar that's smaller than the receipt, and the problem is that the receipt's too long?

There's perspective.

Thanks,

...and peanuts and peanut butter in the same candy bar aren't overkill?

Oh, well, the fact that they're totally padding out the number of disparate components of this candy bar to get up to five is a whole other issue.
