Hey, everyone -- make me feel better about my ignorance and tell me that you were also not aware of the fact that there is now a fifth ocean (and has been since spring 2000).
I feel so out of touch. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to listening to "Constantinople (Not Byzantium)".
Posted by Francis at 12:11 PM | TrackBackI hadn't heard about the fifth ocean yet, either. I somehow don't feel quite as behind-the-times about this as I felt when I learned that the two-kingdom taxonomy of living things I had learned in school had now been replaced by a five-kingdom version.
Speaking of reclassification of bodies of water, did you know that hydrologists consider Lake Michigan and Lake Huron to be a single body of water, that just happens to have a narrow part? So there are really only four great lakes, and the largest freshwater lake is Michigan-Huron, not Superior.
Obviously they took all the water out of the missing fifth Great Lake and poured it into the new fifth ocean.

Posted by: Lance at November 18, 2004 02:00 PMI'd completely missed that.
