Today, Making Light links to a whole mess of weird Christmas ornaments. I have a question about this one:
It's true that "internally grateful" isn't entirely meaningless, but isn't it more likely that they meant this frizzy-haired apple creature to say "eternally grateful" instead?
Posted by Francis at 11:13 AMBut you can see her *heart*! So, it's like, a pun, get it? And it totally makes sense that she's an apple creature, because, uh, apples are well known for their hearts!
That cutesy/country/sentimental/collectible stuff just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
Posted by: Rose at June 3, 2004 11:38 AMIt's a mystery. The cat in the cape is pretty weird too.
By the way, some of them are Halloween and Valentine's Day ornaments. I think.
Actually, I think they all hail from forty years in the future of the alternate universe version of The Nightmare Before Christmas where Santa doesn't entirely regain control, and instead establishes a co-dominium with Jack's Halloween continuum. This is their fusion holiday art.
